Star Wars: Joiner King (also known as Star Wars: Dark Nest I - The Joiner King) is an American 2D-animated epic space opera film, developed by Genndy Tartakovsky, and set in the Star Wars universal franchise by George Lucas. Based on Troy Denning's book of the same name, it is the first installment of the standalone film series, Star Wars: The Dark Nest Trilogy, and the novel-inspired traditional-animation film. It features the voices of Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Misty Lee, Anthony Daniels, Rino Romano, Kira Buckland, Lucille Bliss, and Michael Kopsa.

The film takes place after the Yuuzhan Vong War ended, and an insectoid species called the Killik have been expanding beyond their borders, encroaching on Chiss territory. All of the Jedi survivors of the mission to Myrkr, most notably those who were students at the Jedi Academy on Yavin 4, are called through the Force to help, and they depart into the Unknown Regions of the Galaxy.

Produced by Lucasfilm and Lucasfilm Feature Animation in association with Cartoon Network Studios and Nelvana, Star Wars: Joiner King was released in the United States theatrically by 20th Century Fox on December 13, 2005. Often described as a novel technique of hand-drawn 2D animation, similar to the Star Wars: Clone Wars microseries, the motion of the spaceships was computer enhanced 3D animation. Following the release of Revenge of the Sith, George Lucas was unmotivated to return to the franchise and continue the story beyond Return of the Jedi, though the backstory he created on Anakin's sparked interest in him to develop a standalone trilogy. Like The Phantom Menace, it was extensively covered by media and was greatly anticipated because of the large cultural following the Star Wars saga had cultivated. Unseen Queen (2006) and Swarm War (2007) followed Joiner King, rounding out the standalone Dark Nest trilogy.
