This sound effect can be found on Warner Bros. Sound Effects Library, which was made by Sound Ideas. It's a short version of CARTOON, AIRPLANE - PROP PLANE POWER DIVE SCREAM, LONG. Either way, this is a highly processed version of the original SIREN - STUKA SIREN HOWL, based on the siren of the Ju 87 Stuka dive bomber. It shouldn't be confused with AIRPLANE, JET - FAST PASS BY, LONG.

Audio Samples

Normal version.

Low-quality, higher-pitched version, first half only (as heard in Red Tails (2012). Placeholder until a cleaner version is found; Wings (2012 version) may be a better source for that variant.)

The second half of the higher-pitched version can be sourced from Toy Story (1995) when Buzz is on the toy plane and flips off of it.

A even higher-pitched version can be sampled from Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode "Landing at Port Rain"; used twice.

The full version of this recording can be heard in Pearl Harbor (2001) near the end when the second bomber is about to crash, after the line "They got us pinned down!" Captions for the syndicated print say "[ AIRPLANE ENGINE ROARING ]" even though it's the principal sound there is just the siren warming up, for example.
