Sound Box (サウンドボックス Saundo Bokkusu) is a Japanese sound effects company dedicated to creating and editing sound effects for anime and films. It was originally established as a limited company, but is now reorganized into a corporation.

Sound Box is well-known for its usage of stock sound effects from libraries (e.g. FirstCom - Production Elements, Hollywood Edge, Series 4000 Hollywood, Series 6000, Cartoon Trax, Hanna-Barbera, Warner Bros. Animation and Turner Entertainment).

History[]

Sound Box was founded in 1988 by former Toyo Sound Effects Group (東洋音響効果グループ Tōyō Onkyō Kōka Gurūpu) members Shizuo Kurahashi and Kenji Shibasaki. In addition to the founding, Kurahashi and Shibasaki worked with sound directors such as Masafumi Mima, Yasunori Honda, Jin Aketagawa, Kazuhiro Wakabayashi, Katsuyoshi Kobayashi, Toshiki Kameyama and Eriko Kimura.

In the 1990s, Sound Box worked on sound effects for trailers such as theatrical movies and Toei V-Cinema, as well as anime films.
