Skywalker Hyperdrive Failure is essentially the sound of an inertia starter on a 1928 U.S. Army biplane, a sound designed by Ben Burtt (mixed with other sounds for the Hyperdrive). The inertia sound is commonly used in Star Wars media for many cannons and guns in the series, namely those of the AT-AT Walkers.
