Storyline[]
Sometimes, in times of need, if you look in the right place, you'll see a phone number written in red marker in random places. If you call the number, a guy on the other end will introduce himself as "the delivery god" Yato. Yato is a minor god of war who lacks even a single shrine. In order to build his own shrine and gain recognition as a god, he goes around helping people with all sorts of things for just 5-yen. Hiyori, the daughter of a respectable family, meets Yato in a traffic accident. This causes her soul to be losened from her body and turns her into a “hanyou,” a person who can exit her body in soul form. She chases Yato down, and they begin to work together to help Yato be recognized. Yato also finds a boy named Yukine who becomes a Regalia, a “sacred treasure” that can be used by a god as a weapon to fight. The three of them battle phantoms who bring harm to humans as Yato’s dark hidden history is gradually revealed.
