Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters is a 1985 American biographical drama film co-written and directed by Paul Schrader. The film is based on the life and work of Japanese writer Yukio Mishima (portrayed by Ken Ogata), interweaving episodes from his life with dramatizations of segments from his books The Temple of the Golden Pavilion, Kyoko's House, and Runaway Horses. Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas were executive producers of the film.

Skywalker Sound (then known as Sprocket Systems) provided post-production services: Leslie Shatz is the Sound Designer; Tom Bellfort, Gary Clayton, Jerry Ross, Giorgio Venturoli, and (uncredited) Jeff Kliment are the Sound Editors, and Lizi Gelber, Jenny Stein, and (uncredited) Martin Maryska are the Assistant Sound Editors. Russian Hill Recording and possibly American Zoetrope (AKA Zoetrope Studios) contributed sound post-production.

Storyline[]

A fictionalized account in four chapters of the life of celebrated Japanese author Yukio Mishima. Three of the segments parallel events in Mishima's life with his novels (The Temple of the Golden Pavilion, Kyoko's House, and Runaway Horses), while the fourth depicts the actual events of the 25th Nov. 1970, "The Last Day".
