This sound was created by Jimmy MacDonald in 1941, using a slide whistle and a bicycle horn. Originally a Disney effect, it debuted in the Mickey Mouse short, A Gentleman's Gentleman on March 28, 1941.

Then in the summer of 1992, The Hollywood Edge added this sound to the Cartoon Trax Volume 1 library. Sound Ideas took over to acquire this sound after the bankruptcy of The Hollywood Edge.

Today, it is commonly heard in many pieces of media, along with other cartoon sounds from the library. This sound also makes heavy use of Dipsy's bottom sound in Teletubbies.
