This sound is a series of bullets ricocheting. Its earliest debut might've been in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (needs verification), produced by Lucasfilm and released by Twentieth Century-Fox on May 17, 1980, although it is more likely to be an original Weddington Production sound effect.

Later, in 2008, The Hollywood Edge added this sound to The Premiere Edition Volume 10 library. After the bankruptcy of The Hollywood Edge in 2014, Sound Ideas took over to acquire this sound.
