Originally recorded by Jimmy MacDonald in 1940, this falling whistle sound is made from a slide whistle, drums and cymbals. It made its first appearance in the Goofy short, "Goofy's Glider" on November 2, 1940.

In 1992, The Hollywood Edge added it to the Cartoon Trax Volume 1 library. Unlike CARTOON NETWORK CARTOON FALL SOUND/Hollywoodedge, Sky Rocket Loud High TE021701 and Sound Ideas, WHINE, CARTOON - SHELL SCREAMING WHINE DOWN, this falling whistle sound has been used seldom in media these days.

In 2014, Sound Ideas took over to acquire this whistle after the bankruptcy of The Hollywood Edge.
