The untitled third Fantastic Beasts film is an upcoming fantasy film directed by David Yates from a screenplay by J. K. Rowling and Steve Kloves and a story by Rowling. A joint American and British production, it is the sequel to Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. It is the third instalment in the Fantastic Beasts film series and the eleventh overall in the Wizarding World franchise. The film stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Callum Turner, Jessica Williams, and Jude Law. It is scheduled to be released by Warner Bros. Pictures on 15 July 2022.
Principal photography was set to begin in early 2020. On March 16, 2020, the same day shooting was to have begun, COVID-19 prompted Warner Bros. to postpone the production. Filming officially commenced in September 2020, with a release date set for 12 November 2021. Following Johnny Depp's departure from the role of Gellert Grindelwald and COVID-19 set backs, the film was pushed back to 15 July 2022.
