El Perro y El Gato is an animated series that is typically seen in short segments between commercials originally airing on Jam, however, a longer half hour series also aired. The short segments began airing in 2003, with the half hour series beginning one year later in 2004. The half hour episodes are essentially compilations of the short segments.

The series still airs occasionally on HBO Kids and previously aired on HBO Latino. DVDs of the show were also released in 2013. The show was produced by Primal Screen.

Summary[]

Each episode features Perro, translating the Dog, and Gato, the Cat, having independent adventures in different places. Perro is shown to be a hyperactive, joyful, and happy-excited-lucky shepherd who knows a lot of Spanish, while Gato is a lazy, clumsy, food-loving feline who doesn't always understand Perro's Spanish sentences nor in English, however he appears to know Spanish (and English) himself too. Nevertheless, Perro translates his phrases in English.

The series teaches viewers basic Spanish words and phrases, which are said in English as well, or vice versa. Each episode ends with Perro going over the words again.
