The origins of this whistle are unknown, but the sound might've debuted in Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters (1985). It is the most common falling sound in most media these days, and used often by Hacienda Post and Jeff Hutchins. In other media, it usually accents the fuses of launching fireworks.
Courage The Cowardly Dog (Heard once in "The Precious, Wonderful, Adorable, Lovable Duckling" and "Cowboy Courage"; reverse edit heard twice in "The Precious, Wonderful, Adorable, Lovable Duckling" to mimic steam whistling.)
Looney Tunes Cartoons (2020) (Heard once in "Red White and Bruised" for a firework exploding with Sylvester on it unless I [BigIdeas70258] am confused with similar whistles; the previous 2 fireworks exploding, as well as a fireworks-type explosion in "Sam-merica", also have similar whistles. May've been heard once in reverse in "Hole Lotta Trouble".)
SpongeBob SquarePants (Frequently used to accent falling; high pitched edit heard once in "A Squarepants Family Vacation". Also used for some flying objects in Seasons 2-4 and in "Swamp Mates" and "Patrick the Mailman". Reverse edit used for high ascents from seasons 2-5.)
Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase (2001) (Heard thrice, as the Phantom Virus is thrown toward Scooby and Shaggy, as Scppby pushes a boulder down, and as Fred and Cyber Fred jump off of a roller coaster.)
Shrek 2 (2004) (Heard as the Fairy Godmother's carriage floats down onto the red carpet.)
Good Burger (1997) (Trailers) (Heard once when a giant plastic burger on top of the demolished Mondo Burger falls down onto Mr. Wheat's car before he yells "WHY?!".)
